Backup to the Cloud
What would happen if your laptop were stolen or became unusable? Do you regularly backup to an external data storage? If yes, is there a guarantee that the backup stored on this device will be up-to-date and available without errors in case of an emergency?
Many businesses backup the contents of their servers, or have backup servers in case of a disaster. But for a client machine, desktop or laptop, backups to a separate device are rare.
With backups made to the Microsoft Azure cloud service, however, you can cost-effectively backup data from a server or your laptop. For a typical laptop with a 500 GB hard drive, you can backup to the cloud for just a few thousand Hungarian Forints per month, depending on the amount of data you have on your computer (the size of the backup).
You don't have to worry about physical security, as your backup is redundantly stored, i.e., in multiple copies, in Microsoft's data centers, and for just a few euros per month, you can also request geo-redundant storage, i.e., in different geographical regions.
You also don't need to worry about data security, as the backup is encrypted with a complex password of at least 16 characters, known only to you, before uploading, from where it is transferred to Azure's data centers. The Microsoft Azure cloud service was the first in the world to receive recognition from the data protection organizations of EU member states for complying with EU guidelines in handling personal and customer data.
